Hydratation during the hike

Food & rest

Drinking is very important, at high altitudes dehydration is more accentuated also because the air is thinner. Drinking before feeling thirsty increases physical performance, so start doing it before you leave. During a day in the high mountains, the average water consumption should be about 2 liters.

You will be drinking more on sunny days and during the climb due to the effort and related sweating. Bring water, tea with or without sugar, energy drinks or a diluted fruit juice.
